The Marriott is Committing Crimes Against Humanity

While I was trafficked, my predators took every opportunity with their control over me to impoverish me.

In 2019, they forced me to buy a timeshare at the Westin St. John that I neither wanted nor could afford. I relinquished it several months later, losing 20k dollars thereabouts. Obviously, with this, the Marriott was a party to a crime against humanity and benefitted from it. But until they knew the real story, they were innocent. So I told them. This is what happened.

The Westin St. John is now owned by Marriot International. The Marriot recently announced a plan to “End Human Trafficking” and widely publicized it. Unfortunately, like many of these pronouncements, this is simply a PR ploy to lure gullible women, who hold the purse strings, that the Marriot is an ally of women. It is a horrific lie.

I contacted the Marriot many times, by email, by twitter, and most horrifically, by phone. I told them how they had been made a party to a crime against humanity, a party to a theft, and that I needed my funds returned immediately. They ignored me.

I directly contacted the woman at the hospitality association, Jennifer Fugalo. The response from one of her assistants, “Why are you emailing us about this? Call law enforcement.”

The “powers that be” have set all women up in this endless round of never getting any justice and no organization faces any consequences.

Only the most vulnerable, the victims suffer, usually these are girls and women.

These organizations lie with impunity to burnish their image and give us a sense that someone cares about us and our plight, but they don’t back it up with action, hoping no one will call them to account. If we do try to call them to account, to the women and girls already so overwhelmed and frightened, it is simply another drop of horror and oppression in a bucket so large, we cannot lift it on our own and we want to run and hide.

So the oppressors are protected, in this case the Marriot International, and the victims are obliterated and stolen from and lied to, with no actual recourse. All that exists are public lies that make the oppressors feel good about themselves, look good to the public, but don’t require any real sacrifice or commitment from them.

The phone conversation was worse. I called the Westin “Reselling” and spoke to the woman who answered the phone about my situation. She said she’d never heard such a story her whole career. Uh. Yeah. Me neither, but it happened to me. Please return my funds.

She was then so callous about my situation, so uninformed about trafficking, that she hung up on me when I started to cry at her cruel words.

Perhaps they will respond to their pocketbook being hit.

Law Enforcement doesn’t care about women’s lives. That is the only conclusion from my story, horrific as it is. The United States is in massive violation of human rights. Instead of correcting this, they hide it and silence all voices who speak out.

All women, everyone who stands against slavery and torture, we must stand together.

We must care for each other and fight as one, or we will all continue to be brutally subjugated in some form or another, worse and worse.

At least if we go down, we go down together.

I call on everyone who is reading this article to sign my petition and to refuse to buy a timeshare through Marriot or the Westin or to use their hotels. The Marriot and the Westin are happily profiting from the greatest of evil against women and girls, while trying to pretend they aren’t by claiming a bogus “end human trafficking” program. The Marriott is no longer an innocent bystander, they have been duly informed and refuse to act to correct their part in this atrocity. They are now willing, callous, participants to this brutal, evil, crime against humanity.
